The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship

Part of the European Tour, the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship is scheduled to take place from January 16 through 19, 2014 at the Durban Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi. This is the first game in 2014 and seventh tournament of the 2013-2014 European Tour season. Most of European golf notables and others are expected to participate. They include 2013 Race to Dubai winner Henrik Stenson, one time World Number One and currently ranked seventh in the world Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Cabrera-Bello, Sergio Garcia, defending champion Jamie Donaldson, two time tournament winner Martin Kaymer, U.S. Open champion Phil Mickelson, newcomer Tyrrell Hatton, Scotland’s Craig Lee, England’s Danny Willett and many others. Tiger Woods is a most notable absentee at the game and is in preparation for the February 2014 Dubai Desert Classic. The Abu Dhabi tournament first started in January 2006. This is also the expansion effort of the European Tour into Asia and Middle East. Currently there is trio of European Tour events including Dubai Desert Classic and Qatar Masters that take place in the region.

The winner will pocket €328,779 according to the European’s Tour Web site. The total price winnings is expected at $2.7 million.
