World Challenge to be held at Sherwood CC in Thousand Oaks, California

The Chevron World Challenge golf tournament presented by Northwestern Mutual will take place at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California on Thursday, November 29, 2012 through Sunday, December 2, 2012.  The tournament carries a purse of $4 million.  Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Sherwood is rated as one of the best golf courses in the world.  Sherwood opened the first par-3, 18-hole course in 2006 with more than 1,800 mature oak trees, rose bushes, jasmines, cascading waterfalls and other lush landscaping.  A fun course to play according to previous players, and has awesome backdrops and the course has nice undulations too.  Greens are very pure and the course is not a long course, so the players will be aggressive.

Started as Williams World Challenge in 2000, previous winners of the World Challenge includes Tiger Woods (five time winner and four time runner up), Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Graeme McDowell, Luke Donald, Davis Love III (two times) and Padraig Harrington.  The unofficial event is hosted by Tiger Woods.  Among this year’s players Tiger Woods, Graeme McDowell, and Keegan Bradley appears to be tough contenders.  All together 13 players from the Ryder Cup are participating in the World Challenge.
